Industrial, no wave, electronic duo Ora Iso are up next on Regis’ abrasive Downwards imprint.
Kathleen Malay & Jason Kudo formed Ora Iso in 2011 in Brooklyn, New York. Kathleen Malay, Indonesian-born and Australian-raised, landed in NYC where she met New Yorker Jason Kudo and immediately formed a symbiotic musical bond, mutually feeding off of each other’s defects and general disenfranchisement with the world at large. Neither possess the cure the other needs to exist harmoniously within the universe, but it’s the thought that counts.
Their first album together was Bathcat in 2014 on Ba Da Bing! Records. Kathleen now lives in the crowds of Jakarta, Indonesia and Jason in isolation deep in the mountains of New Hampshire.
Their album, titled Image Certifies, is a love letter to a society dying of its own self-induced cancers. Laced with misanthropic sarcasm, spiked by remorse, sung with grief and disappointment, bolstered with the slightest promise of hope. They plan to tour in Indonesia and Europe this Summer. Their album Image Certifies is their parting gift to New York City. Image Certifies is set for release on April 27th via Downwards and will be available in both digital and 12″ formats.
