Dutch native Darko Esser has returned with his Tripeo monikor in the form of two powerful, finely crafted pieces on the eighth instalment of his Trip series, titled Eighth Trip.
The two-tracker is Tripeo’s first release since 2015 and does not waste any time in getting back into dancefloor territory. Untitled #15 drives forward with sullen aggression; eerie morphing synths gaining strength and swaying atop aggravated deep-hitting drums, all constantly meandering in space and energy. Tripeo has returned with a bang.
On the flip, Untitled #16 is forged with less anger, but just as much tension. A morose cowbell sounds, offset from a moody and subtle drum pattern that beats beneath and groaning and creaking extra-terrestrial synth, creeping and probing throughout the whole piece. While the initial track of the EP effectively calls his audience to attention, the latter drives them further on into the night, through the hypnotic early hours until close.
Altogether, Eighth Trip is yet another rich-sounding release from a champion of the darker, deeper realms of techno. The EP is set to release on the September 8th, in both physical and digital forms via his own label, preorder the record from the link above. Hear snippets from the EP below via the Soundcloud player.
