Techno from Melbourne and beyond.

For Atrophic Society’s 10th release, simply titled X, Material Object, Vohkinne, and Audio Injection team up to present a frenetic and abrasive journey through sound.

To kick off the release, Material Object has delved into his archives to uncover a previously unreleased co-production with Audio Injection in the form of Cwejack. Effectual and triumphant, the track marches forward with purpose among a rolling lead and snappy percussion. A treasure and a perfect fit for Atrophic Society’s milestone.

Grindr, Material Object’s other contribution, takes the listener to the wild edge of sonic exploration and back again. Music poised to push us into the abyss with acidic snarls and overwhelming drones, a writhing black sea swallowing everything in it’s path. Whilst his initial offering alongside Audio Injection was impressive enough, as a solo producer Material Object continues to remind his audience why he is so notorious.

Material Object’s efforts sandwich Vohkinne’s Vestigial Structures and Device One (Risualistic), where the theme of the EP takes shape – a notion of non-standard music for non-standard people. Filled with clattering drums, groaning synths, and squelching layers, Vokhinne adds to his continuously growing collection of top notch productions. For the EP in general, marks the spot – an impressive offering from a consistently impressive label.

X was released this May via Atrophic Society, in both vinyl and digital formats. Listen to the EP below in full via Atrophic Society’s Soundcloud.
